Tech Card: Xing Zhen Hu

Xing Zhen Hu is an old trap card, way back from Rise of Destiny. Because most of you might have forgotten what it does, here's the text:

Xing Zhen Hu
Continuous Trap
Activate by selecting 2 Set Spell or Trap Cards on the field. The selected Spell or Trap Cards cannot be activated.

Though this card is probably not very useful in the current meta, it's still a very interesting card that deserves a second look in casual decks. The ability to lock two of your opponent's spell/traps means they won't dare set many more cards, in case you have Heavy Storm. Furthermore, they'll be wasting two of their spaces.

Give this card a try in lockdown decks, and watch your opponent get frustrated as you deny them the chance to activate their spells/traps.

Tech Card: Deep Diver

Deep Diver is a promotional card which was released with Yugioh World Championship 2008. It's generally been overlooked as its effect does not directly net advantage for the player, and it may cause you to draw a monster during your Draw Phase when you don't really want to. However, what I believe many fail to comprehend is how versatile Deep Diver can be.

Most of you readers out there probably know how useful Foolish Burial can be. Partially because it can select any monster in your deck, and partially because it puts that monster in the graveyard. Well, Deep Diver embodies the first bit to some extent. It can target any monster in your deck and place it on top of your deck, almost ensuring that you will draw it next turn. Such versitality when milling your deck is always useful, as it lets you get what you need quickly, albeit at the cost of your draw phase.

Deep Diver works best in combo decks, as it lets you get the pieces you need quickly. Being a water monster, it can be special summoned by Mother Grizzly, and with 1000 attack, it is a viable target for Sangan.
Not only is Deep Diver a useful searching tool, but it also allows you to look at your deck and the order in which your cards are. Note that you don't need to shuffle your deck after placing the monster card on top of your deck (Please correct me if this is wrong)
Deep Diver works great with cards like Veil of Darkness, Common Charity, Allure of Darkness and Heart of the Underdog. By (almost) ensuring that you get a monster during your next draw phase, you will be able to use these cards effectively. Reversal Quiz decks have also been known to make good use of Deep Diver.

Try this card out once in a while, but remember - the effect is not optional, so if you're not careful, you may be forced to place a monster on top of your deck when you don't want to. And don't try to use Deep Diver to surprise your opponent with an unexpected monster - they still have the second main phase to prepare for any strategy you may have.

Tech Card: Compulsory Evacuation Device

Today's tech card of choice is Compulsory Evacuation Device. In a metagame where synchros run rampant and card destruction effects are so common, chainability is a must in any good card. That's what makes Phoenix Wing Wind Blast so useful now - it's chainable, and it also spins monsters to the top of the deck to disrupt them for a turn.
Compulsory Evacuation Device is a great card to use in today's metagame - it fits the criteria of being chainable, and also deals with Synchros and the odd fusion with ease. Big monsters that required tributes must pay up again just to get on the field, and this useful little card dodges loads of negate effects - such as Stardust Dragon. Finally, it can also bounce face-down cards back to the hand. And that's not all it's good for - you can also use it in combination with your own cards to reuse effects.

So give this card a try. You'll love it when your opponent goes to the trouble of summoning Goyo Guardian and seeing it spun back to the extra deck.
